The infamous scammer, Anna Sorokin, the one who inspired a Netflix series that chronicled her grifting pursuits, is now exploring a new hustle to shed the “scammer” label off of her by selling NFTs.
Sorokin revealed the collection in an interview that was first aired on NBC News NOW.
The exclusive collection of NFTs will be an attempt to shed the “scammer persona”, a decision made after Sorokin became famous for her crimes, which ranged from stealing from businesses as well as friends while posing as a German heiress.
A total of 10 NFTs will be put out for sale to the people by the name “Reinventing Anna,” which is a nod to the Netflix title ‘Inventing Anna’.
Sorokin aka Anna Delvey, rose to fame after gathering attention in the elite Manhattan social scene. Her status as a pretend socialite, sitting on an imaginary $60 million trust fund gave her the platform to trick rich people into investing money in her art foundation and social club.
Sorokin was convicted of eight felonies which included grand larceny and theft of services and spent almost four years in prison. She is still in custody in a US immigration detention center where she’s facing possible deportation.
“I’m trying to move away from this like, quote-unquote scammer persona,” Sorokin said in an interview.
While other details about the collection are pretty thin right now, it was reported that 10 of the minted NFTs will include exclusive perks where the holder of a Reinventing Anna NFT will get access to “one-on-one phone calls” with Sorokin.
The collection will also have three “ultra platinum” NFTs, which will come with an in-person meeting with the scammer. NFT holders will also receive a package consisting of some “personal items” from Sorokin.
