VivaTech 2022 attendees had the opportunity to meet Binance CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ). There, he expressed his desire to relaunch its services and re-enter the South Korean market after closing its Korean affiliate for nearly 17 months.
Binance announced in December 2020 that it would close its South Korean affiliate due to low usage and volume.
VivaTech is Europe’s largest start-up and technology event, bringing attendees to learn about the latest digital transformations in the start-up ecosystem.
Binance, like all markets around the world, is looking at the Korean market, according to CZ.
“We are looking at re-entry into Korea. A good time for recruiting key talent and M&A is approaching. In order for Web 3.0 to become a reality, popularization is ultimately the key, and Binance’s ultimate goal is to become a platform for this.”
Binance also discontinued South Korean language support and removed Won trading pairs and payment options from its global platform to comply with local regulations.
CZ is bullish on Web 3.0 technologies such as blockchain, NFT, and metaverse after Binance announced plans to hire for nearly 2000 roles during the bear market.
