Mars Inc. has applied for a trademark for “SNICKERS”, indicating that it intends to step into the Metaverse and the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis announced the news earlier today via a Tweet.
The brand intends to provide:
- NFTs or other digital tokens based on blockchain technology;
- Virtual products, such as chocolate, confectionery, frozen confectionery, candy and gum, virtual snacks and drinks;
- Online retail store services featuring virtual products;
- Online virtual store environments featuring virtual products, virtual art, and avatars to be used in virtual environments.
The application was submitted to the USPTO on June 13.
Trademark filings for NFTs and Metaverse are becoming more common, and the food business appears to be one of the most active.
Panera Bread, Wingstop, UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panda Express, and McDonald’s along with others have also submitted applications for trademarks to step into the Metaverse with virtual food.
