The blockchain firm MetaJuice has announced the launch of an NFT marketplace in the avatar-focused IMVU metaverse.
MetaJuice is a subsidiary of Together Labs and has collaborated with IMVU creators to develop an inaugural collection.
The collection will feature wearable in-world apparel NFTs.
Daren Tsui, the CEO of Together Labs said, “The NFT marketplace will unlock new functionality our users are excited about, providing our 200,000 creators even more ways to earn.”
“Introducing scarcity, proof of ownership, and ancillary benefits to virtual goods will supercharge the IMVU economy.”
Launching in phases, the first phase will allow IMVU users to wear and showcase their NFTs in the metaverse.
Also, if users choose they can have a special ‘badge’ and name color in a room and in chat, while wearing an NFT.
Other users can view and click on the avatar and find the information and metadata about the NFT that is making them appear special.
“IMVU users have long purchased millions of dollars a month of digital goods,” said John Burris, President of MetaJuice.
“With the increased benefits brought by exclusives, limited runs and resell, we believe NFTs will be additive to our already vibrant virtual economy.”
The announcement also informed users of an upcoming design challenge. The challenge is developed by IMVU in collaboration with the metaverse-native luxury fashion house Auroboros, wherein users have to create a couture digital design using iconic symbols and textures inspired by nature.
The designs will be further converted into digital wearable & NFTs and sold on the IMVU NFT Marketplace. The creators receive a portion of the sales as a part of the prizing package.
