Legendary filmmaker Spike Lee, who is among the veteran directors to make a leap into the NFT space, spoke at the NFT.NYC conference, stating that using NFTs to fund films is “bringing more democracy to filmmaking”.
The writer and director of “Do the Right Thing” has been exploring the potential Web3 space, and he shared his own experience during the talk at Radio City Music Hall.
Recognizing the risk of NFT investment and emphasizing the importance of conducting your own research, he hinted at a new NFT project that will be released “soon.”

He also discussed how individuals who contributed to his films in the 1980s continue to benefit from their investment.
“The individuals who invested in the film are still receiving checks more than 30 years later,” Lee stated. “The rest is history.”
When asked if he’d fund his own project with NFT sales, Lee replied, “Maybe down the line, but not right now.”
