The Sandbox announced a collaboration involving one of the most iconic locations in the real world. TIME’s NFT community, TIMEPieces, has collaborated with the decentralized gaming virtual world to construct a “TIME Square” in the metaverse.
The partnership’s goal is to bring more people into the world of digital art and commerce.
‘TIME Square’ will be the company’s first-ever metaverse destination, on the media outlet’s virtual land in The Sandbox.
It will be a destination inspired by the visual spirit and energy of New York City’s iconic urban locale.
TIME President Keith A Grossman announced the collaboration at this week’s NFT.NYC conference during The Sandbox event.
He issued an open call for architects to design the metaverse’s upcoming TIME Square. The team is looking for an architect who can recreate the iconic destination in Voxel avatar.
“Our goal is to create a destination that will be the heart of the metaverse.”
According to Grossman, the Sandbox serves as a natural link between the virtual community of TIMEPieces, TIME’s historical coverage, and the unique IP from TIME Studios, TIME for Kids.
The Sandbox and TIME Square will serve as an all-inclusive destination for TIMEPieces holders, providing them with unique experiences. This includes discussion groups, events, screenings of TIME Studios projects, and educational opportunities.

According to Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox, the platform is referred to as a “Virtual Manhattan”.
“By partnering with TIME, we’re adding TIMEPieces as the beating heart and soul of this virtual Manhattan, where a design call for virtual architects will be held in TIME Square, a place in our creative metaverse for brands and creators,” he said.
