A recent Email breach of the NFT marketplace OpenSea has led to the platform issuing several guidelines for its users.
An employee of the email delivery vendor- Customer.io of the platform, misused their access and shared the email address of OpenSea users to an unauthorized external party.
The external party can use these email addresses for email phishing attempts.
OpenSea warned users to be vigilant and engage with emails only from the domain ‘opensea.io.’
They also warned users that official emails would never ask users to download anything or contain links which directly prompted users to sign a wallet transaction.
Official emails would also not ask users to share or confirm their passwords or secret wallet phrases.
Users are also asked to check the URL of any page linked in an OpenSea email, and that the links are spelled correctly.
