Social media platform Reddit has announced the launch of an NFT-like Collectible Avatars series, which are limited-edition avatars made by independent artists. These avatars will be built on the Polygon network.
The artists will partner with Reddit and get unique benefits on the platform. The artists will be paid for each Collectible Avatar sold.
Artists will also receive royalties from secondary sales of their Collectible Avatars on open marketplaces.
Each avatar will be priced at a fixed amount and will be purchasable with fiat currencies.
Moreover, since these avatars will be developed on the blockchain, they will give purchasers the rights to use the art, on and off Reddit.
Users will save and manage these Collectible Avatars using Reddit’s Vault, a blockchain-based wallet, which is powered by the Polygon network.
With time, these avatars will be available to everyone, however initially Reddit has granted first-look early access to a limited number of redditors who join the ‘r/CollectibleAvatars community.’
This community outlines the procedure for purchasing the Collectible Avatars, setting up wallets to store them, and getting to know the artists with behind-the-scenes posts, AMAs, and more.
Reddit brought in new artists as well as those that had previously collaborated with the platform for this new project.
Aspiring artists who are interested in being featured in an upcoming release are encouraged to join Reddit’s creator waitlist and keep sharing their skills and work with other redditors.
