Top-notch metaverse platform, The Sandbox joined hands with pro-skateboarder Tony Hawk and NFT platform Autograph to develop the biggest skatepark in the metaverse so far.
The skatepark will be built on the 6×6 LAND parcel into The Sandbox metaverse. This park will reflect the theme dedicated to Tony Hawk’s journey.
Autograph will curate a series of NFTs based on Hawk’s career, most iconic skateboards, equipment, and apparel. Among all these digital collectibles, there will also be Hawk’s skateboard that he used to land the 900 at the X Games in 1999.
After curation of NFTs, The Sandbox will incorporate these NFTs in its open metaverse by converting them into 3D voxel counterparts that will unlock in-game functionality and added utility.

“I have been a fan of new technology all of my life – from the first video games to home computers with CGI capabilities – so I am fascinated by the metaverse, and excited to bring our culture into the landscape,” said Tony Hawk.
Tony Hawk has been 12-time consecutive world champion with numerous outstanding games. He remains the most recognized action-sports figure in the world. He considers skateboarding to be an art form, a lifestyle and a sport, and he was the first skateboarder to land a 900 — considered one of skateboarding’s most technically demanding moves — among many other achievements.
