Moonbirds NFT collection is one of the leading collections at the moment and its parent company Proof Collective is definitely making some big moves. Proof Collective has now acquired the UK-based web3 engineering team ‘Divergence’.
The Divergence team consists of co-founders Arran Schlosberg and Angharad “Harri” Thomas who has now joined the Proof Collective team as part of the acquisition.
Arran Schlosberg is appointed as Proof’s vice president of engineering, and Angharad Thomas is hired as Proof’s director of product.
Divergence worked briefly on the Ethereum-based smart contracts for the Moonbirds NFT launch and the PROOF Collective NFT membership pass.
The team has also experience working behind the scenes on projects like Brotchain, The Kiss Precise, and G-Admit Money’s One collection.
Rose was first drawn to Divergence by its Brotchain NFT project, which was produced entirely on-chain artwork using an Ethereum smart contract using just Solidity code. The Kiss Precise and Proof of Art-Work are two of the team’s other NFT projects.
Divergence had no intention of joining Proof initially, instead, they intended to fundraise and carry on on their own.
As a partner at the VC firm True Ventures, Rose would have been one of the investors but then he noted “They had an A-list slate of investors, and then all of a sudden we said, well: What if we do this together?”
“I’m just thrilled that they fit perfectly into our organization and really help us in a place where we need the most help right now, which is when we’re going to do very ambitious things that are done on-chain,” Rose noted.
Kevin Rose and Justin Mezzell co-founded Proof Collective and are planning additional NFT drops, a special in-person conference in 2023, and many media efforts.
Proof also intends to launch its own “social universe”, which resembles a metaverse in some respects but won’t be a 3D environment.
Kevin Rose will share more details about the social universe at the company’s keynote “Future Proof” conference happening next month.
