Dubai’s government is expanding into the metaverse. The Crown Prince of Dubai announced the launch of the ‘Dubai Metaverse Strategy’ in order to increase the Emirate’s GDP contribution.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Crown Prince and former Deputy Ruler is known to lead the Dubai Metaverse Strategy.
He described the metaverse as “the next revolution [that will] affect all aspects of life over the next two decades,” noting that there are currently 1,000 companies in this sector in Dubai alone.
The proposal intends to create 40,000 virtual employment worth $4 billion for Dubai’s economy by exponentially growing the number of blockchain and metaverse businesses five times in five years.
He tweeted saying, “Our goal by launching an integrated plan for metaverse at this early time for this technology is to be among the top ten cities that will shape this sector globally.”
The Dubai Metaverse Strategy, according to some sources, aims to provide 42,000 virtual jobs by 2030.
