In a historic NFT private sale event, ‘Magnum 2.5’, The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) artwork champagne bottle created by Shammi Shinh, sells for a record $2.5 million.
The world’s most expensive champagne bottle, the ‘magnum of Chateau Avenue Foch’ or Magnum 2.5, is a creation of Shammi Shinh. Shammi, an NFT trader and a connoisseur, breaks his own earlier champagne selling record of $1.9 million.
The artwork on the 1-of-1 limited edition Magnum 2.5 is courtesy of MiG, the BAYC and The Sneaky Vampire Syndicate NFT fame.
Two Italian brothers, Giovanni and Piero Buono, now own the champagne bottle. The avid cryptocurrency-investing brothers also own the Magnum 2.5’s intellectual property and digital NFT artwork rights.
The brothers will also receive the illustrations of the five NFT art pieces on the champagne bottle plus the digital versions of those NFTs.
“Once the buyer has the bottle, they will receive the actual NFTs that are on the bottle as well. Although they are physically printed on the bottle, they will receive the actual NFT artwork,” says Shinh.

But the new owners of the Magnum 2.5 want to preserve and HODL the priceless wine bottle.
“I don’t plan to drink it. I think it will be a good investment. There is a lot of turmoil in the investment world, things are changing quickly. Wealthy people will look for places to store their wealth for a while and that could be a champagne with an NFT attached to it,” says Giovanni.
The exclusive Magnum 2.5 champagne auctioned at the June 8 private sale event is made at the Allouchery-Bailly estate in France.
