Matter Labs has announced that zkSync 2.0 will launch to the Mainnet in 100 days. In a detailed blog post the company outlines zkSync’s values, features and a public roadmap.
zkSync embodies the values of decentralization, Ethereum’s trustless security, scaling without degrading security and being fully open source amongst others.
zkSync’s features include EVM and web3 compatibility, Solidity and Vyper support, and more transactions per second for lower gas fees
zkSync promised to use a public roadmap going forward. The roadmap will be regularly updated and each milestone will be delivered in detail. Key milestones will also be announced beforehand and include a high-level assessment of long-term timelines.
zkSync’s public roadmap starts from the launch of zkSync 2.0 on the Ethereum testnet. After assessing the testnet, the company made significant improvements to the zkEVM including changes to the VM architecture and implementation of account abstraction.
The company implemented Solidity and Vyper support for easy porting and the dynamic fee model to ensure accurate pay-for-use fees.
By early fall, ZK proofs for EVM smart contracts will be in the live production environment. The registration for the mainnet will start by October .
In November, an Alpha version with no external projects, will be launched for testing and to ensure smooth functioning. The fourth quarter of 2022 will see Fair Launch onboarding process and by the year end, zkSync 2.0 will be live.
The blog post also announced an upcoming zkSync 3.0, without giving away more details about it.
