A slew of web3 players partner to launch the ‘Open Metaverse Alliance’, or OMA3 web3 DAO. The majority of members have links to Hong Kong-based game software and venture capital firm Animoca Brands.
The project alliance includes Wivity, Space, Upland, Alien Worlds, Dapper Labs, Decentraland, The Sandbox, Splinterlands, Cryptovoxels, Meta Metaverse, Superworld, and Star Atlas.
OMA3 is the second metaverse interoperability group to have launched recently following the Metaverse Standards Forum on June 21.
“We believe in a metaverse without restraining walls, where individual platforms are interconnected and fully interoperable,” says OMA3 in a statement.
The OMA3 looks to offer groundbreaking solutions to the developing metaverse, such as user-owned information’s freedom.
“The standards we create are guided by the goals of true ownership and real-time interoperability. We will build infrastructure to ensure the metaverse operates as a unified system where digital assets (such as NFTs), identities, and data are permissionless and interoperable for all and controlled by users, not platforms. Users will immutably own these assets and transfer them to any OMA3 virtual worlds freely, without needing the platform’s permission,” states OMA3.
The DAO is open for joining for all blockchain-based metaverse entities. The MSF states OMA3 will join the former upon OMA3’s incorporation.
