The “Aussie crypto star” web3 NFT game developer and publisher studio Immutable announces a layoff for more than 20 staff members citing reorganization.
The layoff, announced in a meeting on Monday, was focused at and also includes core Gods Unchained staff members, sources say. The rest of the job losses emanate from Immutable’s talent acquisition department.
The 30-minute long Google Meet layoff meeting in question was hosted by Immutable’s chief studio officer Justin Hulog and co-founder James Ferguson. The team members each had a 15-minute meeting with their manager and the Human Resources rep., updating them on their job status.
The company “made a difficult choice” in doing “a small reorganization within Gods Unchained to help better enable us to achieve our goal of creating the next generation of web3 games,” per an Immutable spokesperson.
The resources’ reallocation would allow Immutable invest in key roles to enable scaling of Gods Unchained “to millions of players over the next year,” an internal memo states.
“We hate to lose members of our team and will ensure a smooth transition for those affected by the reorganization” adds Immutable.
