The Queen of Pop Madonna owns many NFTs like the Material Girl she is, but the queen is still after one Bored Ape NFT that she believes actually resembles her. Yes, Madonna is in fact sad that she doesn’t own BAYC NFT #3756.
“I was hellbent on getting an Ape and really specific about what I wanted: the Ape with a leather motorcycle cap on and multicolored teeth,” Madonna noted in an interview with Variety.
The trippy-furred Bored Ape #3756 rocks a leather jacket and an S&M hat. It wears gold stud earrings and has bored eyes with the mouth adorning a multicolored grin.
The BAYC NFT #3756 is currently listed for a whopping 800.69 ETH, approximately $1.27 million.
Madonna stated in the interview, “I was told that it was inspired by me, and modeled after me, and it was bought by a woman who’s a fan of mine. She was gonna sell it to me, but it was way too expensive.”
Madonna actually hinted at purchasing a BAYC NFT in January but hopped onto the BAYC NFT bandwagon in March by purchasing BAYC NFT #4988.
Bored Ape #4988 is a Dmt furred ape with an orange background. The ape is wide-eyed with a bored cigarette mouth. It sports a Sleeveless Logo Tee with an S&M hat.
The creators of BAYC, Yuga Labs, responded to whether BAYC NFT #3756 or its characteristics were modeled after Madonna, noting the Bored Apes “aren’t necessarily designed or modeled after anyone specifically.”
A Yuga Labs rep stated “The Yuga Labs team loves it when people see themselves in certain apes. The S&M hat is one of the founders’ favorite characteristics in the collection; they love anything punk rock. Madonna helped popularize that style, which the founders are a fan of.”
The NFT Madonna fancy is rarer than her BAYC NFT #4988. Out of the 10,000 NFTs in the collection, Bored Ape #3756 is ranked 123rd, while the one she owns is ranked 3,754.
Along with this BAYC NFT, the pop icon also owns two World of Women NFTs, acquired for about $13,000 each, and has also minted one Otherdeed NFT.
In May, Madonna partnered with Beeple to launch an NFT collection titled “Mother of Creation” which is a series of three digitally created videos in which she is portrayed as a nude woman giving birth to flora, fauna, and technology.
