In a positive development, the gaming firm Sandbox Instagram account is back online following a hack that occured in the early hours of 4th August, as per the official blog post.
The blog further revealed that hackers accessed Sandbox’s official account, which has 184,000 followers and then posted a phishing link on it. However, how hackers got hold of the account still remains unknown.
Once the breach was discovered around 8.00 am UTC, the account was immediately deactivated and the account is now back online.
It was further disclosed that only one user was scammed and that the firm is working with the person to ‘solve his situation’. The hackers’ wallet revealed four NFTs have been transferred from two wallets after the hack. One of the 4 NFTs is World of Women Galaxy NFT which featured art by Yam Karkai herself.
The gaming platform said “The trust of our community is paramount for us and we are taking steps to further secure our social accounts. We are currently reviewing our security logs and internal processes to reinforce security across all of our platforms.”Â
The Sandbox works with Brandshield and Ledger to identify its additional security measures.
