The popular video games “The Witcher” and “Cyberpunk 2077” animator Marcin Kobylecki is all set to bring a darker fantasy horror-themed game to the metaverse with a new project ‘DRKVRS’.
DRKVRS in collaboration with Aleph Zero is introducing an imaginative, mythologically rich metaverse to the broader crypto space. Kobylechi also served as the executive producer of the oscar-nominated animated short film “The Cathedral” directed by Tomasz Baginski. In the DRKVRS project, he is working as an executive producer.
Collaborators include an award-winning writer, TV host, and well-known fantasy and horror game designer Lukasz Orbitowski, along with talented science fiction and horror fantasy writer Jacek Dukaj.
The spooky yet splendid storyline makes the game all the more interesting. The narrative takes the player into the bowels of Leviathan, a cosmic beast that has been traversing the universe for billions of years, encapsulating the entire civilization within itself.
Inside that mythical creature, players will explore the city of Babalon – a “transhumanist dystopia” serving as a central hub for players to interact with one another. As the story continues, players have to make complex moral choices including rated-R activities.
Kobylecki also hinted that an essential part of the DRKVRS is that the possibility of betrayal will be built into any type of user activity. Hence, multiplayer cooperation will be a constant Prisoner’s Dilemma. He also teased the storyline saying, “Is it more profitable to keep the alliance and eventually win more, or to break it, anticipating the other side’s betrayal?”
Well, to fully comprehend it, the players would need to wait in anticipation for the game launch as we can clearly see, DRKVRS has a lot to offer. The storyline itself suggests that DRKVRS aims to change the perception of the typical metaverse as solely play-to-earn games.
Aleph Zero co-founder Antoni Zolciak showed his excitement for the upcoming launch saying, with Marcin’s and his team’s background, we are very excited to see what comes out of it. He added that the entire notion behind DRKVRS is to make it how it sounds, gloomy and dark.
DRKVRS will surely be beautifully gloomy from an aesthetic standpoint. Players would enter the game without knowing their role or function. Belonging to a given faction will depend on the choices they made during their journey.
Moreover, DRKVRS development aligns with Aleph Zero’s roadmap for the next two years. Users will also enjoy the interchain privacy component that will make the gameplay truly unique.
Zolciak also revealed that two tokens will be used for DRKVRS: a tradeable token ‘SPECK’ and a second called God’s Blood that will be used in-game. Aleph Zero will provide the underlying infrastructure for token transfer, voting, and NFT minting. DRKVRS also has plans to include a DAO to oversee governance and vote on game developments.
