The Youtuber vs. Youtuber battle comes to an end as Ben Armstrong, aka BitBoy Crypto announced that he is dropping the lawsuit against Erling Mengshoel Jr., who goes by the name Atozy.
Ben Armstrong aka BitBoy Crypto filed a defamation suit against Youtuber Atozy on August 12 for a Youtube video titled, “This YouTuber scams his fans… Bitboy Crypto,” made by Atozy.
However in a live stream yesterday, Armstrong said that he is dropping the lawsuit after Atozy managed to raise $200,000 for his legal defense.
He said, “So we are gonna drop the lawsuit, 100% and I’m sorry this became public, I’m sorry that this has been misconstrued, but I just want you guys to understand why I was doing this. This was not about a slapstick lawsuit.”
He claims that he filed the lawsuit with the aim to get Atozy to take down his video and hinted that he did not want to actually go through with the court proceedings.
Armstrong said that the dispute has gone much further than he intended, with popular crypto traders/podcasters such as Cobie (Jordan Fish) donating $100,000 to Atozy.
He further said, “When someone implies that you could be in trouble from the SEC, that is not frivolous guys, that’s a very serious matter. And so from my perspective, trying to defend my reputation, trying to get him to remove the video that literally has wrong information in it, that was all I wanted.”
Atozy’s video of BitBoy Crypto is still up. In yesterday’s live stream, BitBoy asked Atozy to at least edit parts of the video which he has taken umbrage over. Ultimately however, Armstrong noted that Atozy has “won.”
Atozy tweeted that it is yet not confirmed that the lawsuit has been pulled. He says that he is waiting for official confirmation from his lawyer as he was told that ‘if it is not with prejudice he can refile at any time.’
He promises to return everyone their donated money once the confirmation comes through.
