The Gemini-owned NFT marketplace, Nifty Gateway, announced the launch of the beta version of its ‘Publishers’ platform.
This new platform will enable people to curate NFT drops and sell them through their own shopify-like storefronts.
Currently, 50 beta Publishers will be able to use tools which are used by artists– payment options, unique drop types, rules for buyers, to curate their NFT drops.
Nifty Gateway says that eventually these tools will be open to all and introduce “a new way for people to earn a living in Web 3 — by becoming curators.”
The company says that they will also expand beyond art curators to other groups who want to release NFTs, such as artists publishing their own works, brands releasing NFTs for loyalty or utility in the future.
Nifty Gateway earlier launched Curated Drops, which featured NFT collections curated by in-house curators.
The company says that since 2018 they have worked with more than 400 artists and paid them over $500 million.
Duncan Cock Foster, Nifty Gateway’s co-founder said, “There’s a limit to the number of artists we can curate. You really have to have a strategy to succeed as an artist. The best way to help artists is to have more curators.”
Nifty Gateway said that Curated Drops will now exist as a publisher on the new platform. Nifty Gateway said that it has found out through research that curated drops ring in up to 90% new buyers and up to 70% of those buyers go on to collect additional NFTs.
Cock Foster said, “We researched previous drops that had come from external curators, and what we found is that those drops actually brought in new audiences on average.”
