Billionaire Elon Musk’s followers wreak havoc in South Korea. The government’s YouTube channel was hacked and changed to “SpaceX Invest” in order to broadcast a cryptocurrency-related video of the Tesla CEO.
According to reports, the South Korean government’s official YouTube channel appeared to have been hacked at 3.30 a.m. on September 3. The hackers aired a live cryptocurrency broadcast that included an interview with Elon Musk.
The account was quickly restored after employees from the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism department became aware of the situation around 6 a.m.
According to a Google Korea official, the company is currently investigating the cause of the incident. The primary suspicion is that the account’s ID and password have been stolen.
Earlier this week, the Korea Tourism Organization’s (KTO) YouTube account was also hacked. According to a KTO representative, Google automatically blocks access to an account if it detects unusual activity.
