The South Korean national television and radio network, MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) announced a strategic business partnership with Hong Kong-based metaverse gaming platform The Sandbox.
MBC has launched various businesses in Korea based on its own IP such as Metaverse and NFT. As a part of this collaboration, MBC plans to launch metaverse original content and virtual spaces including the ‘Sangam office building’ and production studio for sandbox users to enjoy the experience.
Note that MBC’s extraordinary IPs cross drama, entertainment, and news and will further push the expansion of ‘another world’ and metaverse by catering to both global and domestic users.
MBC will also enter K-Verse, a Korean pop culture focused space in The Sandbox metaverse. With this move, MBC is intending to offer users access to various contents related to its dramas and other TV shows.
Park Jae-hoon, part manager of MBC, said “I have been paying attention to the 3 million users of The Sandbox and collaboration cases with Snoop Dogg and Winner Music. The success stories of the metaverse and NFT projects that MBC built a priori among domestic broadcasters will give The Sandbox newness.”
The signing ceremony was held at the MBC Smart Center (161, Bongeunsa-ro, Gangnam-gu) on September 1.
