The American Mega Bank JPMorgan forays deeper into the Web3 space as it seeks hiring for its Web3, Metaverse and Crypto clients.
As per its latest Linkedin post, the bank is hiring for the position of a Vice President (VP) and Payments Business Development Manager. The new hire will join the Technology, Media and Telecom West Coast Payments Team of the firm and will be part of the bank’s Web3, Crypto, Fintech & Metaverse industry subvertical.
The post enlists various responsibilities for the new hire including being responsible for organizing and arranging new corporate clients for a suite of payment products, including transactional FX, liquidity and treasury services and escrow.
The bank stated that there is no industry playbook for these areas yet. Hence, the new hire must be comfortable paving a path, creating frameworks and working with extremely fast pacing companies amidst ambiguity.
It further added that these segments ask for increased technical knowledge around software that is different from traditional training of front-office financial professionals.
However, many believe that the new hiring does not mean anything huge for the bank in the Web3 space. “Hiring a mid-level person to work on something like this doesn’t guarantee a product comes to market” said Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley.
