Last week, a 39-year-old man was arrested in the Netherlands on suspicion of laundering crypto millions of euros using a malicious software update purporting to be from the open source Electrum wallet.
The man was arrested in the village of Veenendaal on September 6. He was released on September 8. According to a statement made by the Dutch police, the man remains a suspect and his crypto has been seized.
Police investigation found that the man converted Bitcoin to privacy coin Monero and vice versa using the anonymous online network Bisq. Several daa carriers have been seized from his house.

“Cryptocurrency, like ordinary money, is vulnerable to all kinds of crime” the police said. “The anonymous and cross-border nature of cryptocurrency affords opportunities for criminals.”
