A Bored Ape NFT holder who is also a yacht owner, is planning to launch a decentralized real world yacht club.
The ‘Bored Yachts Club’ plans to build a decentralized, NFT-focused yachting club and a DAO that allows members to rent real vessels all over the world, with the proceeds going to charity.
The launch starts with the “Lady Amanda”, which is a single yacht of club organizer, Jad Comair. Later, more yacht owners will be onboarded over time while allowing them to use funds to causes they would want to support.
Jad Comair is the founder and the CEO of Melanion Capital, and had stated it was due to his investment in Bitcoin that he got his first yacht.
Comair revealed that his wanting to launch a decentralized platform for yacht rentals was before his Ape ownership, but ‘the vibe fits and the thematic pairing proved serendipitous’.
He said even when the community named the Bored Ape Yacht Club, there were some yachts missing.
Comair believes that the club will appeal to yacht owners from across the world. This will further help with letting them fill up empty charter windows as well as also supporting causes.
Additionally, because the yachts can operate in foreign waters out of land-based control, Comair feels the ‘Bored Yachts Club’ can help a “crypto city” of sorts tied to a marina.
Comair also has plans like introducing a YachtCoin token. Between potential token price rise and NFT pass royalties, Comair says there’s a channel for profit for yacht owners and brokers.
“Instead of a metaverse at the end,” Comair concluded “you have a ‘yachtverse,’ where basically you enjoy yachting instead of video games.”
