The play-to-earn battling game Axie Infinity, in which players trade NFT creatures, Axies, gathered in Barcelona for AxieCon. It crowned two new world champions from the top professional team METAT8 Esports.
The metaverse’s METAT8 Esports team won the two largest tournaments in the finals of Axie Infinity World Championship, AxieCon. The players won a total of $229,000 in prize money.

“It was amazing. I’ve done pretty well in ‘Magic’, but I had never earned a major, individual title. This was something special because going home knowing that nothing could have gone any better is unique” Pozzo said.
The Axie Infinity: Origins finals were won by Theeban “1437” Siva of METAT8, giving it its second championship of the day. METAT8 is considering competing in other Web3 games as well, including an upcoming MOBA called “Battle for Giostone”, which Siva is co-developing.
“We wanted to have the best possible team and something that’s just all about competing and making each other better and stronger” said Siva.
