The Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside Metaverse creator, Yuga Labs, announces the formation of a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) community council consisting of 7 members with a “proven track record of proactively and positively contributing to the club since the start.”
According to the announcement, BAYC/MAYC owners Josh Ong, Sera, Laura Rod, 0xEthan, 0xWave, Negi, and Peter Fang are the seven members of the newly set up BAYC community council which is likely to grow over time.
Yuga Labs says these members have been active in the community, engaging with the same, attending meetups, etc. They will give the community a forum to send feedback to Yuga Labs directly.
The “autonomous” council will work with the BAYC/MAYC community to encourage community-driven projects such as meetups, charitable giving, etc.

The 7-member BAYC council will also contribute their skill-set, and Yuga Labs will collaborate with them to make the most innovative ideas a reality.
Yuga Labs is also exploring the possibility of a CryptoPunks, Meebits, and Otherside council.
The BAYC team noted, “We’re excited to work with this group of long standing and trusted club members to create a better experience in the swamp for everyone.”
The council formation did cause a commotion in the NFT community as some were excited about the right representation of the community while others were disappointed on why they were not chosen for the council even after being eligible under all the criteria.
The lack of an opportunity for Ape holders to vote to choose the council was one of the most legitimate objections. Nonetheless, the future will unveil Yuga Labs’ initiative to maintain a proactive connection with the community will bear fruits or not.
