The BNB Smart Chain will go through a hard fork, through a temporary update patch called Moran.
The new update is released with an aim to mitigate the cross-chain infrastructure between Beacon Chain and Smart Chain so that the cross-chain can be re-enabled back. The mainnet update is expected to happen at block height 22,107,423.
The changes included in the new patch are:
- To fix the vulnerability in the iavl hash check. This will eventually migrate to ICS23 spec.
- To introduce block header in sequence check in CrossChain Contract.
- To make relayer whitelisted to the genesis candidates. There will be further BEPs proposed on how to define the relayer candidates.
