The leading metaverse real estate company Everyrealm launches the world’s first mainstream free-to-play game “Hometopia“ based on designing, building, and remodeling virtual real estate.
Hometopia’s gaming concept is akin to the well-known Roblox-based home design games Bloxburg, which has received more than 5 billion visits and 11 million likes since 2015, and Brookhaven, which frequently has 450,000+ concurrent users.
Hometopia developer Alex Ahlund stated, “Hometopia will capture those looking for a more realistic home design and world creation game as they age out of the homebuilding games they loved as a kid.”
Ahlund believes that Hometopia has the potential to become this generation’s The Sims, one of the best-selling PC games, with over 11 million copies sold and over $5 billion in revenue.
Everyrealm’s Hometopia – which has been in development for more than three years – will allow users to build virtual houses and towns with friends, and players will also be able to own anything they create in-game.
Hometopia is set up to draw people looking for more mature iterations of the Roblox interior design games they cherished as children.
It will particularly appeal to a female market that other Metaverse gaming projects have ignored but which has a significant portion of purchasing power.
According to Everyrealm, the free-to-play game slated to debut on the Epic Games Store this year should appeal to female gamers.
Later this year, Hometopia will be made available for free on the Epic Games Store for PC. Versions for other platforms including the Mac will be released later.
Everyrealm is backed by a strong team of VCs and collected $60 million in Series A funding led by a16z with participation from Dapper Labs, Coinbase Ventures, The Sandbox, Nas, Paris Hilton, Randi Zuckerberg, etc. In March, Everyrealm welcomed The Weeknd and Will Smith to its investor team.
