India-based e-commerce giant Flipkart launches Flipverse, a metaverse experience that users may access through a smartphone without VR equipment, allowing them to experience and purchase things in three-dimensional virtual reality (VR).
Flipkart has already signed up more than 15 brands to launch and showcase almost 100 products on Flipverse.
For one week, all android users will get access to Flipverse via the Flipkart app. The first phase of the service will include companies including Puma, Noise, Nivea, Lavie, Tokyo Talkies, Campus, VIP, Ajmal Perfumes, Himalaya, and Butterfly India.
In its initial iteration, the brands will allow customers to browse merchandise from a variety of categories, including sportswear, wearable gadgets, clothing, cosmetics, and home appliances, as well as receive offers and collectibles.
The company announced that Flipverse would also be included in the Supercoins loyalty program. The Flipkart android app’s FireDrops section will feature “Flipverse.”

According to the e-commerce giant, accessing the virtual 3D experience will not in any way cause the device to heat up because it is being rendered and streamed via the cloud.
Users can design their avatars and engage with a limited number of brands that are a part of the “Flipverse” through this pilot experience.
For consumers that participate, the firms setting up their own virtual experiences in this virtual world will give their own rewards, including digital collectibles.
Flipkart users are to be rewarded for interacting in this new virtual environment. Depending on the brands, the prizes might potentially be translated into tangible products.
Beginning on Monday, October 17, and continuing through Sunday, October 23, the company’s Android app will be live with the pilot experience.

Recently, Flipkart and eDAO collaborated to develop a digital treasure hunt for its Big Billion Days holiday sale. Customers had access to digital collectibles in the areas of art, athletics, gaming, and entertainment at the conclusion of the 10-day sale.
Sai Krishna VK, Chief Innovation Architect at Flipkart Labs noted “This is a 3D-enabled virtual environment with super high fidelity. We have worked with partners like eDAO to enable this on the server and then stream it on the app so that you get a very high fidelity irrespective of what quality of mobile phone you have.”
“The launch of Flipverse will continue to have an impact on innovative industries like e-commerce and enhance the customer experience while delivering a gamified and immersive shopping experience, especially in light of the adoption of the metaverse and web3 platforms by multiple brands in India,” stated Naren Ravula, VP and Head, Product Strategy and Deployment, Flipkart Labs.
