Major League Baseball (MLB) is looking to hire a Licensing Manager to lead the licensing of its Digital Games, NFT, and Metaverse endeavors.
According to the Linkedin job posting, the new Licensing Manager should develop and execute partnership strategies in expanding digital portfolio areas including NFT, Metaverse, wearable technology, and AR/VR strategy.
To build a world-class product experience for baseball fans to access and interact with MLB’s expanding digital collections, the Licensing Manager has to identify relationships with marketplaces, tools, and platforms.
The new hire should build systems and methods to track and measure the success of NFT, Metaverse, wearable technologies, and AR/VR collaborations.
They should also manage all business development, portfolio analysis, and license agreements with MLBPA’s commercial partner One Team with regard to digital gaming.
The MLB licensing manager is to create a draft of any necessary paperwork, including license agreements, amendments, and deal memos.
They should even verify that the licensee complies with the terms and conditions of the license agreement.
The applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 to 7 years of similar experience in digital and tech licensing, and, “preferably, sports.”
The licensing manager must maintain a network of contacts across the digital licensing landscape and being an enthusiast of baseball is a plus for this role.

This is a hybrid position in New York City and the joinee should be able to visit the workplace two to three days a week.
The MLB is trying to expand its presence in the web3 sector with its new initiatives and partnerships. The League began selling NFTs in January due to a collaboration with Candy Digital. In May, Major League Baseball partnered with Sorare to launch its online game.
