Community-led governing body comprised of ApeCoin holders, ApeCoin DAO has completed the first phase of its Special Council nomination process. So, Ape holders applied and completed their KYC and verification processes, and the community got its first look at the 42 candidates.
The ApeCoin DAO announced on Twitter that 42 Ape holders would be running for the three open Special Council seats. The ApeCoin DAO will now hold a 14-day “Community Discussion” to kick off phase two.
“The Foundation engaged two separate independent third-party service providers to perform this verification, which included but not limited to screening against sanctions, politically exposed persons, and background checks,” the announcement read.
This means that the Ape Holder community will be able to learn more about the candidates and ask them questions on their candidate Discourse pages.
Previously, ApeCoin DAO announced three Special Council Member seats will be up for grabs following the announcement that Dean Steinbeck, Maara Bajwa, and Amy Wu will be stepping down from their Special Council positions and will not be running for re-election.
The ApeCoin DAO had approved Ape Improvement Proposals, kicking off the ApeCoin Special Council Election season. Ape holders had until November 20th to submit applications to elect up to three new council members by January 2023.
In December, the community will hold two separate votes. The top five candidates will be determined by the first vote via snapshot. This first vote will be held between December 15th and December 21st.
The second vote will determine who will serve on the Special Council in January 2023, as these candidates will be nominated for one of the three Special Council seats.
