A cyberattack was carried out against the servers of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. The hackers are said to have demanded Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency in order to decrypt the critical data.
The data of nearly 3-4 crore patients may have been compromised as a result of the breach, according to AIIMS Hospital officials. The AIIMS server has been down for the sixth day in a row, so patient care services in the emergency, outpatient, inpatient, and laboratory wings are being managed manually.
The open-source Health Management Information System (HMIS), e-Hospital@NIC, has been restored. Four physical servers have been arranged for restoring e-hospital services, with the NIC team cleaning infections from other e-hospital servers at AIIMS.
While the India Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN), Delhi Police, and the Ministry of Home Affairs investigate, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit has registered a case of extortion and cyberterrorism
The AIIMS server has data on several VIPs, including former prime ministers, ministers, bureaucrats, and judges.
