India’s leading e-commerce giant Flipkart and Layer 2 scaling solution Polygon enter into a strategic partnership to launch the Blockchain-eCommerce Centre of Excellence (CoE).
According to the announcement, the Blockchain-eCommerce CoE will work on research and development of Web3 and metaverse commerce use cases in India to accelerate the adoption of Web3.
Flipkart is analyzing how Web3 can reshape the future of commerce, consumption, and value creation and transform the shopping experiences for millions of people through its relationship with Polygon and the new Blockchain-Commerce Centre.
This is not the first collaboration between Flipkart and Polygon. In October, Flipkart launched Flipverse collaborating with eDAO, a Polygon-incubated company. Flipkart is also featuring Polygonscan Block Explorer in its platform.
Sandeep Nailwal, the co-founder of Polygon, stated “We know first-hand the wealth of talent that exists in India. This partnership will create more opportunities, drive research and development, and further cement India’s position as a Web3 powerhouse. We see the Centre of Excellence as a natural step towards the evolution of eCommerce globally.”
Naren Ravula, VP, Head of Product Strategy at Flipkart and Head of Flipkart Labs, added, “Our partnership with Polygon exhibits our technology-driven mindset with an endeavor to transform the shopping experiences for millions of users and redefine the future of commerce, consumption, and value creation. We look forward to continuing our work with Polygon and adding value to the e-commerce ecosystem by creating opportunities for innovative interactions with customers.”
With ties with Adidas, Adobe, Robinhood, and other companies, Polygon is already thriving in the Web3 scene. It is certain that this partnership with Flipkart will expand the acceptance and effect of web3 both in India and beyond by pioneering research and development at the nexus of Web3 and experiential retail.
