Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside metaverse creator Yuga Labs announced the appointment of Activision Blizzard President and COO Daniel Alegre as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective in the first half of 2023.
According to the announcement, Alegre will work closely with Yuga Labs founders Wylie Aronow and Greg Solano in expanding the company and former CEO Nicole Muniz, who will stay on as a partner and strategic advisor to Yuga Labs.
The announcement notes that Yuga Labs has “scaled quickly to help make that dream a reality and will benefit from Alegre’s 25-plus years of experience building global, disruptive, and successful customer and community-centric businesses.”
Since the beginning of 2020, Alegre has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Activision Blizzard, where he is responsible for the international supply and marketing of properties like Candy Crush, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Call of Duty.
Alegre previously worked at Google for more than 16 years, serving in various executive roles including President of Global and Strategic Partnerships, President of Shopping and Payments, and President of Asia Pacific and Latin America.
