The Bitcoin maximalist and the former CEO of MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor announced that MicroStrategy had added additional 2500 Bitcoins to its holdings.
MicroStrategy spent $42.8 million buying 2,395 Bitcoins between November 1 and December 21, 2022. On December 22, the company sold 704 BTC for around $11.8 million.
MicroStrategy then purchased 810 BTC for around $13.6 million, at an average price of approximately $16,845 per bitcoin, on December 24, 2022. Now, this makes a total of 2500 Bitcoins.
So MicroStrategy holds roughly 132,500 bitcoins as of December 27, 2022, from the previous 130,000 bitcoins as of October 31, 2022. The 132,500 bitcoins were purchased for approximately $4.03 billion in total, with an average price of about $30,397 per bitcoin.
MicroStrategy acknowledged that the company had sold some of its Bitcoin holdings for the first time on December 22 in order to cover taxes. Although the company went on to buy more bitcoins, the company broke its vow to never sell any of its Bitcoin holdings.
