Blockchain-based gaming platform Gala Games reportedly partners with Hollywood stars Dwayne Johnson aka “The Rock” and Mark Wahlberg for developing two separate films.
Gala Games shared a screenshot of a Discord message on its official Twitter account, stating it is “happy to get the chance to work with them” and noted they are “two absolutely huge forces in the entertainment industry”.
“Think about it for a moment…. imagine going to a movie and there is a qr code on your ticket to redeem a digital item. That item has been selling on OpenSea so why wouldn’t you at least take a look?” the announcement read.
It further noted, “Imagine again you’re watching a film on Netflix and a qr code shows up there as well… These are just some of the use cases.”
The announcement has been deleted since then, causing a frenzy in the community. But the sudden revelation of the Rock’s and Wahlberg’s involvement caused the GALA tokens price to surge to 70% in the last 24 hours, now trading at a price of $0.04.
Gala Games added that $GALA will serve as the gas token for Gala Music and Gala Film. However, since the announcement was removed, this is just conjecture at this time.
Gala did call the extensive partnership “The exciting thing for the ecosystem though is this is yet another huge opportunity to bring in an extremely large number of users onto our blockchain.”
Gala Games’ Twitter handle has been increasingly active since the beginning of the year, providing community members with details about its plans.
The Gala Games team is currently evaluating 15 mobile games for onboarding. It has also recently acquired a mobile game studio with roughly 20 million users.
Since “The Rock” and Mark Wahlberg are yet to confirm their participation in Gala Games, the announcement will remain in speculation for the community.
