The Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, wishes to be the first person to use the new central bank digital currency (CBDC) and get payment in e-hryvnia.
While speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF), Fedorov stated that after successfully adopting crypto to fund its armed forces, Ukraine’s new laws will position the country as the world’s leading jurisdiction for crypto assets.
Federov stated that, “Two weeks ago, I saw a pilot of the electronic e-hryvnia in Ukraine. I plan on becoming the first test user of the electronic hryvnia and I plan to receive on receiving my salary in e-hryvnia.”
A new cryptocurrency tax law and a CBDC law from the National Bank of Ukraine, both of which are expected to be passed next year, will augment the regulation of virtual assets in Ukraine, Fedorov declared.
“That will see Ukraine having the best crypto assets jurisdiction in the world … a complex, comprehensive approach to the legalization of all digital assets,” Fedorov noted.
