Bored Ape Yacht Club’s (BAYC) skill-based mint gaming experience “Dookey Dash” is all the rage right now but a smart user reportedly found an exploit in the game.
Software engineer and crypto enthusiast Cygaar claims to have discovered an exploit in Dookey Dash that permitted the user to go through every type of obstacle in the game.
The user is seen navigating through each sort of obstacle and still registering a legitimate score in the video shared on Twitter.
Cygaar was able to maneuver right past the annoying fans and pipes flowing through the sewer backdrop while not racking up his score for the demonstration.
Cygaar first tried to hack the game on January 20th but remained unsuccessful. He claims that it then took him two days to discover the exploit and another three to assemble a successful proof of concept.
He contacted staff security engineer @samwcyo and the Yuga security team about patching this issue in Dookey Dash stating “I have no interest in compromising the integrity of the game.”
“I most likely won’t be taking this proof of concept further because it is very time consuming. However, I will look at additional ways hackers may attempt to gain advantages in this game,” Cygaar added.
BAYC co-founder Greg Solano later tweeted that the team collects a lot of gameplay and metadata of every single play in Dookey Dash. While there are some real-time checks, the in-depth score audit will happen after the game ends.
“Scores found doing sketchy shit will go to 0 and not participate in the Summoning,” Solano added.
Yuga Labs has previously announced that anti-cheat checks will be in place that will validate each game session and sessions which raise flags will be up for review.
“If we determine that you cheated at any time during the interactive experience, we reserve the right to terminate your access to further gameplay and you will not be eligible to transform your Sewer Pass!” Yuga Labs revealed.
Two weeks ago, BAYC announced “Dookey Dash” where players can attempt to go as far as possible as the game progresses in difficulty. A few days back, BAYC launched Sewer Pass NFTs for Dookey Dash which netted over $26 million in sales.
