Pet food maker Pedigree, the subsidiary of the American group Mars, partners with Decentraland to launch Fosterverse aiming to bring “the brand’s ambition to end pet homelessness to the virtual world.”
According to the announcement, Landowners in Decentraland will be able to foster real rescue dogs on their virtual properties thanks to the Fosterverse.
Landowners must upload 3D avatars of actual dogs that are currently available for adoption on Adopt a Pet™ in order to take part in this initiative.
The Pedigree brand will match up to $100,000 in donations to support the Pedigree Foundation’s yearly grant program, specifically helping to fund foster programming grants for shelters and rescues around the nation.
Participants in the campaign who adore dogs can win personalized Fosterverse wearables to display in Decentraland.
In Decentraland, users may connect with dogs and learn more about them, including their backgrounds, if they have been adopted, and how they can help dogs across the nation.
Dog lovers can choose to adopt a dog they meet online in the Fosterverse through Adopt a Pet regardless of whether they own property in Decentraland or donate to Pedigree Foundation to aid comparable adoptable animals in need.
Jean-Paul Jansen, VP of Marketing for Mars Petcare, stated “As the first brand to bring adoptable dogs to the Metaverse, we are proud to be at the forefront of this new virtual reality, supporting our ambition to end pet homelessness.”
