As per two anonymous sources, the online e-commerce retail giant Amazon is reportedly launching an NFT project – digital assets enterprise.
According to a BlockWorks report, Amazon is focusing on blockchain-based gaming and related NFT applications which are still under development.
Amazon will allegedly attempt to encourage users to play cryptocurrency games and earn free NFTs through this NFT program.
The giant is reportedly teaming up with layer-1 blockchains, blockchain-based gaming startups and developers, and digital asset exchanges for this initiative.
A source familiar with Amazon’s NFT project stated “We knew it was possible. But now it seems like it’s really happening. That’s going to affect the existing players in the space — if they execute and do this right and are smart about it.”
The platform which would support some NFT gaming activities is still being developed, but according to two insiders, it will be based in Amazon rather than its web hosting platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

A fifth source mentioned that Amazon has recently been looking into many other Web3 projects. A number of internal employees would probably be a requirement for both the platform and Amazon’s subsequent explorations into crypto, one insider added.
No information is out on who would lead Amazon’s NFT program. One of the sources stated, “With the [number] of customers Amazon has, they could make a huge splash in the NFT marketplace.”
Last April, Amazon’s CEO Andy Jassy stated Amazon may sell NFTs in the future. Its AWS Unit reportedly hired a Principal Digital Assets Specialist to help drive adoption across the global digital asset community.
