The famous crypto entrepreneur Jack Mallers’ digital payment provider Strike partners with payments giant Fiserv, the parent company of Clover, to enable Bitcoin Lightning network payments.
Jack Maller tweeted “Clover merchants can now accept cheaper, faster, cash-final USD over Lightning.”
Since the 90-day test period begins today, not all Clover merchants have the new feature enabled automatically quite yet.
Strike will evaluate the cost and settlement speed in comparison to other networks during the next 90 days, as well as how much new business Lightning delivers for merchants who use it.
Now that the trial period is live, Clover merchants can get in touch with Strike to enable less expensive, quicker transactions via the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
Following the trial, Strike plans to enter the Clover app store and then integrate directly into Clover. This would place Lightning as a payment network on par with payment processors like Visa and MasterCard and make it available by default to all Clover merchants.
Mallers stated “Ultimately, these payment giants want to see Lightning in action. They want to feel it, touch it, and see people use it. An open, instant, cheap, inclusive, and innovative payment network seems too good to be true. Time to show Lightning is the world’s superior payments rail.”
