Twitter CEO Elon Musk plans to introduce Twitter payments system in the near future with the idea of incorporating crypto into it.
According to a Financial Times report, Elon Musk wants it to be “first and foremost” for fiat currencies, but it will be built in a way with the option of adding cryptocurrencies later.
As part of Musk’s declared goal to turn Twitter into an “everything app,” Twitter has long hinted at introducing payments to the platform. Twitter has already begun applying for regulatory licenses to enter the payments business in the US.
Reportedly, Twitter paused work on its crypto wallet in November 2022, the time when mass layoffs were happening in the platform. Last month, rumors were circulating that Twitter is considering rolling out its own native token “Twitter Coin” to be used for tipping and making payments on the platform.
With the revelation of the new Twitter payments system, Dogecoin enthusiasts are the most excited. In October 2022, the Dogecoin price spiked following Elon Musk’s Twitter acquisition. As Elon is a long-time Dogecoin enthusiast, the community believes Elon has great plans for the coin’s incorporation into the platform.
