The Sandbox will host the World’s Biggest Demo Drop (WBDD) official release party, the top DJ talent competition run by Spinnin’ Records, in partnership with Warner Music Group.
For more than 20 years, Spinnin’ Records, a world-renowned dance label, has launched new musicians through its DJ talent competition. The ultimate WDDD party began on January 26 and will last through February 8, 2023.
Songs from this year’s winners will be released for the first time not just on Spinnin’ Records but also as NFT products with LGND Music, opening up a new avenue for winners’ digital distribution.
Each of the winning DJs will perform during the event’s official release party, which will be staged for the first time online in The Sandbox, as an extension of the IRL event.
New DJ talents from all around the world are welcome to enter the WBDD competition and submit their best demos for a chance to win an official Spinnin’ Records or Musical Freedom release.
This year’s event features legendary DJ Tiësto on the jury and the official ambassador is Dutch DJ and record producer Mike Williams. Each DJ will also appear as a non-playable character (NPC) whom players can interact with.
The competition for this year was introduced at the Amsterdam Dance Event, and more than 2,000 demos from all around the world have already been registered.
There are a number of quests in the WBDD Release Party event in The Sandbox. All of the quests in the event must be completed by February 8.
A prize pool of 50K SAND tokens and 1 memorabilia will be awarded to those who accomplish 80% of the missions. WMG Pass NFT owners who complete all of the tasks will also be eligible to win an additional prize pool of 50K SAND.
To embrace the music industry into the open metaverse, Spinnin’ Records and The Sandbox will continue to work together on interesting and innovative community Web3 initiatives and integrations.
