Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com collaborates with South Korean drama production company Studio Dragon to launch NFTs based on popular Korean dramas.
According to the announcement, Crypto.com has “signed an MOU with Studio Dragon to actively support the entry of K-content into NFTs.”
On February 8, Crypto.com and Studio Dragon intend to release the initial batch of NFTs for Studio Dragon’s art toy DearRo which is a collaboration edition based on the popular Korean drama series ‘Crash Landing on You’ and ‘Start-Up’.
Studio Dragon’s DearRo toy enjoys K dramas and enjoys dressing up or acting as the lead character in his favorite dramas.
“After this drop, the entire collection of 500 NFTs, two global drama IP, and six main character costume cards will be released sequentially,” Crypto.com stated.
In addition, Studio Dragon has announced that they would feature NFTs that unveil a new K-drama every quarter in order to engage with fans.
Patrick Yoon, General Manager of Crypto.com Korea, stated “Through this MoU with Studio Dragon, we plan to develop new ways for fans around the world to experience K-contents. Crypto.com will continue to collaborate with large content studios and management companies on their IPs and introduce Korean culture and arts to our 80 million users worldwide.”
This is not Crypto.com’s first collaboration in South Korea. Last August, South Korean entertainment agency Fantagio also partnered with Crypto.com for NFT projects. After that Crypto.com gained regulatory licenses in South Korea after securing two local companies, getting access to crypto, and payment registration in the country.
