Crypto payments platform Wirex signed a long-term strategic global partnership with payments company network Visa to expand its services in Asia-Pacific (APAC) and the United Kingdom regions.
According to the announcement, Wirex will become a member of Visa in APAC and the UK, enabling them to issue crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards to more than 40 countries.
Wirex was the first company in the world to issue a crypto-enabled card in the year 2015. The partnership between Wirex and Visa will facilitate cooperation in areas like APAC, the UK, Europe, and the USA.
By being a member of Visa, Wirex is able to offer new products to use crypto in everyday life, enhance user experience, and test out new blockchain initiatives. Wirex and Visa will continue to collaborate in order to develop new services and globalize their card program.
The UK has the most customers for Wirex, and in APAC it is expanding quickly. Wirex seeks to enable everyone to profit from cryptocurrency with this deal.
Svyatoslav Garal, Regional Managing Director of Wirex APAC, stated “It’s great to strengthen our partnership with Visa, who have played an important role in allowing us to bridge the gap between the traditional and digital economies. Visa’s proven commitment to safety, security, and innovation will help us to continue developing a next-generation app and card.”
Matt Wood, Head of Digital Partnerships, Asia Pacific, Visa, added “Visa wants to bring more payment options to consumers by connecting digital currencies with our network of banks and merchants. We’re excited that Wirex is expanding their focus on Asia Pacific, making it easy and seamless for people to spend their crypto balance at the millions of merchants that accept Visa in the region.”
