The premium auction house, Sotheby’s, unveiled ‘Snow Crash’– an NFT collection attached with physical artifacts that is inspired by fictional writer Neal Stephenson’s 1992 science fiction novel of the same name, which coined the term “Metaverse” for the first time.
The bid for this ‘Snow Crash’ thing will be commended on February 27.
The sale also contains Infocalypse, which is an open-edition digital art collection to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Snow Crash. The collection was created jointly by Tony Sheeder, the artist behind Dioxin Posse, artist and software developer Sterling Crispin, and author Neal Stephenson.

The fictional novel is listed among TIME Magazine’s Top 100 All-Time Novels written in English since 1923, which talks about the future of technology. Interestingly, the book introduced terms like “Metaverse” and “Avatar” in 1992, which depict the author’s visionary conceptual writing that also laid the foundation for future technologies.
The main attraction of this auction would be “Sword One”, which is a hand-forged Tachi and Saya in a custom-built Presentation Box, with Digital Twin as NFT.
