Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts (EA), will join as co-founder and strategy chief of Games for a Living (GFAL), a Barcelona-based startup focused on Web3 technologies.
The startup, GFAL is developing a blockchain-based platform to democratize access to investment opportunities in startups and other asset classes.
Hawkins believes that Web3 technologies, including blockchain and decentralized applications, can disrupt traditional industries and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors. He sees GFAL as a promising player in this space, with a strong team and innovative technology.
Hawkins gave a statement where he said, “Web3 is the bridge to the metaverse, and if we’re going to make a metaverse, the economy of the metaverse has to be more like the real world.”
Hawkins has a long history in the video game industry, having founded EA in the early 1980s. He has since become an active investor and mentor to startups, particularly in the gaming and technology sectors. His involvement with GFAL is a positive sign for the startup and the broader Web3 industry.
