The zkEVM initiative, Scroll rolled out its testnet version of the Ethereum layer 2 solutions on the Goerli testnet, called it the final stage before its mainnet launch that is slated in late 2023.
zkEVMs are the layer-2 scaling solution on the Ethereum network to enhance the performance of the projects. It is the most essential part of future blockchain-based projects as well as the virtual assets economy.
The current deployment on the Goerli testnet is the transition of the Scroll’s zkEVM development phases from a pre-alpha to an alpha testing phase. Goerli is the public testnet, which means it allows developers to do activity on the open-source code. It also helps the project developer to filter out loopholes and bugs before the mainnet launch.
In order to transact digital assets between the Goerli testnet and Scroll, the bridge has been also developed.
“We’ve been testing with mock mainnet transactions on our pre-alpha testnet but by having a more public testnet you can have more time to battle test it and make sure that everything is working properly — because of the huge difficulty of building a system like this,” said a researcher known as Pseudotheos at Scroll, in an interview.
