The crypto gods blessed a solo bitcoin miner as they mined the 780,112th block in the Bitcoin blockchain, receiving a reward of 6.25 BTC with a fee reward of 0.63 BTC, worth over $150,000.
The solo miner generated a valid hash after only two days of mining making it an exceptional occurrence.
It would generally take a miner significantly longer to produce a legitimate transaction given the restricted computational power they employed, therefore the solitary miner is incredibly lucky to produce the valid hash.
The miner used 6.7 PH/s of average hashing power (peta hashes per second). The solo miner’s 6.7 PH/s hash rate accounted for about 0.002% of the blockchain’s total computational power.
With the Solo CK Pool mining service, the miner established a solo mining pool which led to this incredible event in Bitcoin history.
The solo lucky miner explained in a post on bitcointalk that, although he often mines with 270TH on a standard pool, he chose to rent a high hash rate to mine alone for a day and was extremely fortunate to mine a block.
“Good afternoon. Thanks to the creator of this solo pool. Yes, indeed, it is a great luck to catch a block with such a hashrate. I was mining on a pool with my equipment with a capacity of 270 ths, but on March 9 I rented power on nicehash with a volume of 5 phs. And in less than a day, luck smiled on me) p.s. Greetings from Mother Russia),” the miner stated.
This year is indeed becoming a lucky one for solo miners. In January, a solo Bitcoin miner solved a block with a hash rate of 10 TH/s, emerging as the first one to add block 772,793 to the blockchain. 98% of the total 6.35939231 BTC authorized as the block reward and fees went to the lucky miner as compensation.
